No, it is not Thanksgiving or Christmas, it is just Darin being cheap.

We seasoned a Butterball we got at Winco for 98 cents a pound. We cook it in the convection oven, get a great supper, and 2 weeks of meat!

Best Buy is built into the hill-side. We went in here trying to decide if Holy should buy a Mac Book Pro, or a Windows Laptop. The machines by hardware component specification were not impressive, the Mac has much less video cache than PC’s using the same card, less ram, equal processor, and slower hard drive speeds. The Mac Book Pro we were looking at was $1,709 plus tax and $399 for three-year best buy warranty. We could get a nice HP with more ram same processor and the same video card with 4X the cache for $599 at Costco, and a three-year warranty that covered every thing including dropping the thing in the hot tub (As long as it is an accident) for $99.00. The rub is she wants to run Adobe Design Studio CS6. The software has both a Windows version and a Mac Version. All our friends who do design say buy a Mac, all our friends who use Macs say buy a Mac. We look at the $1,000 price difference, and our wallet says buy a PC. We are not flush with cash, and certainly not rich enough to make the wrong choice and have buy another computer because we went too cheap. Our question is, in this case how much benefit will the MAC give Holly. Holly career goal is to be a graphics artist, I checked with the people who make movies, and the latest edition of the Mountain Lion OS, has not thrilled them. They are trading their MACs in for PC workstations, running at about $14K a pop. We know for sure, that we will not be doing that, for us it is a Mac Book Pro or a Windows-based laptop. We would sure like her to make our web sites look better and hammer out some projects she has waiting on this decision. Is this question a Ford / Chevy question? Or is there more meat to the question than the hardware similarities warranties, and cost difference. If any one know the truth here, please comment at the end of this post, we are looking for all the information we can get. Those who know us, know we are Microsoft fans, so buying a MAC is not our modes operandi.

Back to our space, if it were not for the trains, we would never want to leave here. The trains run hard constantly from 10:30 pm to 2:30 am the RV shakes like we are in a 3 magnitude earth quake. We tried ear plugs, but just can’t get used to them. Some times we use the noise cancelling headphones, but one can’t sleep in those.

California should be really happy to have us RV’ers. As a family we dropped $150 in sales tax over the last three weeks. Any state that does not go all out to bring in tourists, is nuts!

Holly like the comfort of this new dress, so she wears it to play pool. (Thank you Jae for your very generous contribution to Holly’s clothes fund. Yes, it did take her four months to find clothes she wanted to wear. Holly does not make decisions quickly. Holly is very grateful to you.)
