Del Mar via La Jolla

25170May 1, 2011 – Athena took us to Del Mar via La Jolla – Rolling Shoe Box | Rolling Shoe Box

Took a trip on the lower coast, but no pictures, I forgot the camera battery. I am just not back to feeling well enough to do much, but we did get a nice walk on the Tides beach in Del Mar. Athena pulled into a beach parking lot just north of town, I saw the $10.00 parking fee and said no way are we paying $10.00 for a ten minute walk on the beach, and she reluctantly pulled out. Turns out parking along the street in the town of Del Mar is free on Sundays, and we got a spot there and it was only a block to the beach. Can’t believe the nerve of people to charge that kind of money, and the willingness of people to pay it.  On the way back to camp, we saw a sobering accident on the highway, our camp is on a 2 lane road with a double solid down the middle. It appears someone got impatient, passed and plowed a pickup head on and the families paid a high high price. So please when you drive and some one is going slow, and you feel they are taking away your right to travel at a reasonable speed, they will eventually go away. Don’t get mad and pass, the costs can be way too high.  I have seen more impatient rude drivers, and fatal accidents in the state of California than any other state, and have spent less time here than in many states. Part of the reason for this I think is California might have one of the highest populations of any other state. They have lower speed limits here than other places we have been on this trip, but too many people I guess. I only write the sobering tonight, that all of us might think twice before getting frustrated at the other guy on the road. Remember, Don’t wave or drive like a Californian!

Have a good evening and a good night…
