Took about 30 minutes to get here from Kanab, Utah. The state park charges $6.00 per car to get in, and really does not offer much value for day use, as most of the immediate area in the state park is designated a conservation area. They were charging $16.00 for camping, this is an extremely attractive deal it for ATV enthusiasts. We saw a lot of very large and rather odd looking RV’s built on a Semi platform, pulling on average of two trailers loaded with quads and jeeps. The off road drivers use a gate in the campground leading to an area they use, and it appears they have a great time. This park, is a bread and butter winner for Kanab Utah, as it attracts off road sports enthusiast from near and far. If the Federal Government gets this law through, https://www.fws.gov/policy/library/2012/2012-23741.html another rural city, its businesses, and non welfare supported residents will be at risk of financial destruction because of a Beetle. The Beetle has been coexisting within this community for nearly 200 years, and does just fine. One has to make one wonder who will be earning a living 20 years from now. Will it only be medical personnel, welfare, and social security recipients eking out a living? For more information see https://www.stateparks.utah.gov/parks/coral-pink.

Athena and the girls go for a hike around the Dune
4
The dunes are mostly tan, and slightly orange. The Camera sees them differently based on the lighting. There is no pink in these dunes however, unless you use a pink filter and fake it.
5
Sarah completes the trail
6
Holly and Sarah dig a hole in the top of the dune, turns out there is moisture in the dune.
7
They have sand and head for the car where I am sitting. I don’t trust their motives. I roll up the windows and lock the doors.
8
Athena finishes the loop, she looks tired
9
The girls convince me to open the door and they show me this sand ball. Is interesting, they unintentionally got some of it in the car, and it is bright orange on the black dash.
10
We then head out into the federal lands
11
The sand got too deep for our car, though we have four wheel drive, we did not have the clearance, so we could not go far.12Well we had to ride out on the road we came in on. Had to maintain about 40MPH to stay rolling as the car was really dragging.
1
We head to Bryce canyon, and go through the Red Canyon tunnels on the way in.
2
There is a little town on the way in to Bryce Canyon where the people on the porches look a little odd. We stopped in any way, because we were rather hungry.
3
We went into the café, and some really large people seated us.
4
The café turned out to be historic. The food was quite good considering how long the café had been around. The prices were reasonable too. Taking all this into consideration, I could see how the servers got to be large. I am sure I would be large if I worked there.

Well we made it to Bryce Canyon! They call all those spires Hoodoos. They remind me of porcelain chess pieces. Voodoo magic is at work in this park, each one of these spires represents a chess piece somewhere in the world, and each time a spire breaks, so does it corresponding chess piece. Please tread lightly when visiting this park.

If you’re not a hiker plan about 4 hours for this park. This view-point was about a half mile walk from the car. Athena and Holly helped me in and back out again as it was steep. The elevation here is about 8700 feet. Athena found hauling me out to be far too much work, and his been ill for the last 48 hours. If you are susceptible to altitude sickness or Asthma, be really care not to over exert your self. Don’t let your family members over work up here, they will be difficult to live with for days!

If you get to Bryce Canyon at 8am, come in mid May and have a 4 wheel drive vehicle you can make a loop from Kanab. See Bryce, then Kodachrome Drive out the dirt road to the Grand Staircase, go south on the dirt road to 89, then back into Kanab. Plan about 8 to 10 hours.
Have a good evening and good night….
