September 1, 2010 – The power to our loop is out, too hot to stay so we find Lake George.
Titanic! no, just the Jolly Roger!
It was hotter than Hell Mi. today, and the power to our campsite was dead, so we opted for Wed. drive. On the drive, we found Lake George! Lake George was not only beautiful, but rich in history. The French and Indian war was fought here, and the Lake is believed to be a turning point in the Revolutionary war. The French watched the American farmers dislodge the British from this region. When the French saw this act by the untrained Americans, they thought these American rebels might just have a chance, and joined forces with the American revolutionaries to Kick the British loyalist out. Many believe the United states would be under British rule today if the American rebels had not won the battle here. If the weather had not been so hot, we would have likely missed this jewel as I would have taken the day off to sleep a bit.
We topped off the night at my favorite restaurant “The Golden Coral” in Saratoga Springs, NY. $11. for adults and $6. for Sarah; and one gets all you can eat Steak, Salad, fruit, and ice cream. I ate 6lbs of each category and found it all to be high quality food. If we keep going there, I will personally bankrupt the chain!
Well, we are off to the North East corner of New Hampshire in the morning.
