We find another Full Time Family! (They are rather hardy compared to us. A family of 8 doing it by tent!)

Cabrillo offers a wonderful overlook to the city and the ocean. It is easy to see why Cabrillo and his men took this area away from the natives.

Seems California has always had gender identity issues. Even Cabrillo wore a skirt! The weather here though, is quite suitable to the wearing of man dresses.

This is a long steep trail down to the tide pools, but I am not up to the walk. We will catch the tide pools another time. Either when the weather is cooler, or I am wearing light skirt. History tells me, the readers of the blog will be best off waiting for the weather to change, as I would not do a skirt justice.

Thought I would test the telephoto out and snoop on this nearly invisible boat. Looks like I was caught and the skipper is posing.

We placed Sarah in front of the statue of Cabrillo. Turns out there is a striking resemblance. Look at their eyes. (Note: no pictures exist of Cabrillo, this statue was entirely made up. I hope that when we are all resurrected at the end of time, he is not disjointed about this rendition of him, and he is not too upset about the skirt thing.)

Holly wants to see what it feels like to visit the monument from a sea gulls point of view.

Holly decides she wants to build a house here. I am wondering how we will get the property away from the US military

Hmm... Here is a nice house with a view, I wonder if it for sale?

Leaving Cabrillo National monument, we find a giant asparagus going to flower.

An old lady led us to these trees. She said she planted them when she was a girl. The sign said they were planted in 1780. I think she is older than she looked. She looked about 90, it is always nice to look young for your age.

We arrive at the science museum. $11.75 per person is a super big rip off, $6.00 is about right. Athena bought a membership for $59.00 lets you in all the Museums of science and Industry, and other minor museums in the USA for one year. We shall see if it is worth it.

Holly drives a motorcycle through her DNA, cool exhibit, but without Ms Frizzle, it is just not the same.

Someone came buy and told us it looks just like the library at UCSD. We felt sorry for the people at UCSD.

Back out doors, we walk the hollowed halls to the art museums. (Yes, the halls truly are hollow, and less than ornate)

Now we are in the art sale square in the park, as you can see, your kindergarten teacher has been painting the floor.

We find awesome cactus flowers, but the septic is doing a great job of making its presence known so we can't stand to stay here any longer.

Sarah and Athena are doing something weird on a weird thing. They are such cute kids.

We were going to ride off into the sunset, but there is some disagreement on which direction that might be.

Well, you have successfully blown another week with the Pantekoek family. We have shown a few more aspects of the San Diego region, which deserves a visit if you have not been here before. San Diego is small as far as cities go, but its drivers do not know that. They drive like suburban Bostonians with one foot on the gas, one hand on the horn, and yelling out obnoxious unintelligible word. When I try driving like that Athena yells at me saying that my words are too intelligible. Get these people out of the car, and most of them are the friendliest folks you will ever meet. Strangely, I have even met one or two that are not socialist and agree that Obama would be a good candidate for a single term president. Holly loves the weather here, and would love a home on the beach. Well until next time.

Good Evening and good night
