We woke up this morning with our rig mooning Seaside, and the front facing Mecca and bowing to Allah. Puzzled by this we ask the ranger at the park what had happened. Turns out the the water main broke and the traveled beneath out front jack. In search of a solution, we traveled to Fort Clatsop to see how the pioneers dealt with excess water.

We took the soil stability issue to Lewis and Clark, but they seemed to be highly focused on something else. Two of the guys in the picture are hunting, the one in the back is taking all the credit. You always want to be in the guy in the back when everything goes well, that is where the big money is. When things don’t go well it is better to claim not being there.

Still trying to learn a solution to dealing with wet soil, we walked on down to the fort. We learned that it is definitely American.

It is very dry in the rooms of the fort but it is rather cold! They must have needed a lot of firewood.

This is one way too leave the fort. Looks like it could be water logged.

The boat is called a dug out. They chop the log out then burn it smooth, this yields an ancient and effective boat in small rivers.

Dragging this thing to the water edge, may be a formidable adventure.

In walking back to the car, all we had to remember to get back, is the Moss always grows on the North side of the tree. The only problem is the moss seems to grow equally all the way around the trees in Western Oregon. I decided it was an old proverb given to kids prone to wandering off that one does not want to see again.

The answer to our original sinking problem was found at the end of the rain bow. Now it was not a pot of gold, but instead three boards at 50 cents and a man willing to cut them.

There they are happily holding the front of the RV out of the mud. 18,ooo pounds on that jack sure changes the shape of the boards.

Later in the evening, it got colder and frosted the ground with about an inch of rapidly melting snow, Barely got the picture before it was gone. We saw Mikes new house, he has an acre up in Jefferson, seems like you are without neighbors when in his house, that really makes it nice. Saw Randy and his family, then Dad had us over for a killer Salmon dinner. Rounded off a nice day that brought us home at 12:30 am. At 4:30 am on Monday we ran off to Kaiser where the did an EMG on me, (In case you are wandering, lots of very long needles are involved and the exam is most unpleasant. I kept thinking of Princess Bride and expecting the Dr to say “”How does this make you feel? Be honest, it is for…”) The good and the bad of the exam are that it revealed nothing. After this many test why would we be surprised. We are waiting in Oregon to get our last exam done, then we had south. Theoretically the next Blog will come from Palm Desert, Ca. Good evening and good night…. For more information about the discovery of the North West and Fort clatsop here are some suggested materials
