October 5, 2010 – Work around the house
Everyone was too tired to tour today, so I went outside and rigged the RV to haul the bikes, and the car at the same time. The hitch looks like something out of Dr. Seuss, is rather wiggly, and will extend the car another foot and a half from the RV reducing clearance from the hitch to the road on severe dips. We will run it to Maryland if the electrical cable and breakaway cable will reach from the RV to car after all this apparatus has been added. After creating this menagerie, I wired the Even Brake system into the Honda, that took most of the day as I searched for ways to wire the vehicle without modifying the vehicle in any way. In the end I was able to connect the power supply to the breaking status transmitter to the wires going to the cigarette lighter, and had to tap the wire off the break pedal so the system could sense current going to the breaks and tell me when they are being applied. This monitor allows me to prevent the Honda’s breaks from burning in the event that the breaking system does not release the brake after a stop. The next step is to connect the car to the RV, and make sure that Camping World wired the car correctly for my tow package, if they did not, there will be more work to be done. That was my fun day.
Athena and the kids had fun doing science experiments, testing Acids and Bases, dissecting flowers, and making dies from vegetation. They also did normal school work while Athena cleaned up the RV and helped them with difficult topics. I guess functions in Algebra slowed them down for a bit, but hey my functions are slowing me down a bit now days, so it seems fair.
Have a good evening and a good night….
