28 Feb 2015 Young L??? Ankeny Wildlife Preserve, Ocean Side State Park by darin | posted in: Oregon | 0 30 Minutes North of Pacific city Thousand Trails is Tillamook Oregon. We need to ship out some customer orders, take care of laundry, and get groceries. The day however is not all fun and games; we have obligations to tend to as well. We nearly always make an obligatory stop at the Tillamook Cheese Factory, especially if we have an out of town guest. I asked my teens, not to be affectionate in my presence, as it is disturbing to a dad, when his daughter gets too much attention. They obeyed me, and in this scene Athena was behind them with the camera. My question is this Lo?? or Lu??. The latter everyone knows, but being that the latter is virtually required of the former, who is qualified to know which one has the greater rein. As a man, one must be careful how much he participates in affection because when a girl gives him something she expects something in return. Now he wants something greater than a kiss. Not just any man gets a girls ice cream. He takes the bait, and now he is trapped with her with no where to run! John, look who’s driving. Dude; I told you to run like no man has ever ran before Really, if you relax, let her drive, and remember, she is always right; it’s not so bad. We arrive in Oceanside Oregon about 30 miles drive around the cape from Pacific City. This is a beach at the end of peninsula with a huge hill lined with homes, Bed and Breakfast, and small hotels with awesome ocean views. The nearest RV camping is in Neatarts just 5 miles up the beach. The state park itself is a small parking lot, and has a restroom. There is no charge for this park as with most of Oregon’s minor Parks. Once hungry, stop in a Rozanna’s for lunch. Rozanna’s is mid priced establishment right on the ocean. The ocean stretches around the cape, producing true beauty and a sense of mystery. We head up the beach to check out one of the most unusual attractions that you will find on a beach anywhere. Don’t worry falling rock is not dangerous, if your nice to her she will be nice to you. This is a tunnel is about 75 yards long, and goes through the cliff leading to a beach on the other side. The tunnel ends at the other beach. The tunnel trail is not exactly ADA compliant, but the trail from the tunnel to the beach itself is not Darin compliant, so my investigation of this other beach ends here. My scouts made a trek up the other beach a ways. The report is it one of the most pristine and secluded beaches they have ever seen, that is accessible to nearly anyone with feet. Well, every one returned safely and they look very happy. I should send them to the other side more often. Sarah found a cave, they sent her there, she did not come back, so they have to find her. Another chance to be with out Mom and Dad. Life gets no better than a beach, sun, and distance from parents. Sarah was rather disappointed in the cave, the crack was too narrow for her to squeeze through. I am glad she did not fit, as the park service, the city, and other nosy agencies would probably have something to say when I started blasting the cape to dig her out. The epa would demand permits as I started sluicing the powder just to be sure there were no precious metals in that hill. Kids just don’t know how much trouble they cause when they do stupid things in the name of fun. This an estuary that we like to take leisurely walks on. It is two hours from Pacific City Thousand Trails or 20 minutes south of Salem on I-5. Take the Ankeny Hill Exit, turn right and keep going down the hill toward the Ferry. About 2 miles down the road there will be a road on the left. The sign is grown over in brush and the road is hard to find. It will say “Duck Blind and Boardwalk”. The park is only open late spring and summer, used to be year around, but some moron thinks the animals need a rest. Morons aside, this park is worth a trip. It as close to nature as one can legally get without getting his feet wet in the Willamette Valley. This is exactly why America is getting fat!!!!!!!! Soda helps, but legislated inactivity takes the cake. So don’t bring the dog, and god forbid you get your heart rate above a resting level. This is a park! We found the politician who made this sign. Being close to the ground, I would probably want people to be going slow enough to see me too. This guy also helps one to get their heart rate up without jogging, biking, or walking his dog. Lastly I have never seen a snake this color before, and thank God he is not trying to live in my yard. A snake this big makes a real racket in the lawn mower. When Athena is along, I never have to look far to find beauty. Unmowed fields giving lots of cover for snakes A big bird with no shortage of frogs for supper All those bumps are frogs staring at the camera Love Birds taking their last walk before John goes back to Phoenix Last stop before the bus station. We stop at Dad’s house who is being very sweet, and hosting a Birthday party for Holly. I sure hope I inherited his BBQ cooking gene. He can sure cook. Shay is sitting by Holly, we miss Shay. I don’t think we have seen her and her family in several years. This is one of the downsides of RV travel, often your family and friends will not come with you. They are all afraid to leave the Shire. We are glad that Shay and Athena’s sister’s family, my brother and his family and Paul from France were able to make it. We do not have photos of everyone, as not everyone in my family is visible to cameras. Holly got her favorite present for her birthday. This card is slightly defective. The words are upside down. Does not appear to be bothering her. My favorite part of birthday parties! Probably the only reason a people to come to birthday parties. Once you have had a Costco flake cake, nothing else will ever satisfy the inner sinful desires of your pallet. John left us and is back home looking for work and doing the things life requires. Holly is sitting in the house sad about the fact that he is gone, and Athena I are walking in the tide pools on the edge of the Pacific City Dune under the Thousand Trails Park. Between various ones, we have had company every day and night for the last month. Though we love everyone, a few days of rest is nice too. We give Holly a quiet family birthday as an excuse for more cake and ice cream. Bobbing for Oreos in a cake is a birthday tradition that I am not acquainted with. I think Paul, Shay’s exchange student from France taught her this. John, I think I found your jacket! Well, this is about as much blogging that 4 hours and Verizon internet over cell can handle. So close to the city, but yet so far when it comes to radio telecommunications.
